Greetings Wastelanders & Vault Dwellers! Bethesda Game Studios and their Fallout video game series has been on a role this year! From their Atlantic City expansion update in Fallout 76 to their promotion with Jones Soda Co. with the release of the classic Fallout New Vegas soda: Nuka Cola Victory. All leading up to the Fallout TV Series set to premier on Amazon Prime April 11th with a plethora of new Fallout merchandise to check out on both Amazon.com and the Bethesda Gear online storefront.
But the one thing that Fallout fans and card collectors, myself included, have been excited for has been their collaboration with Wizards of The Coast legendary trading card game Magic: The Gathering.
On October 19th 2023, Wizards of The Coast made a former announcement on their website that they had partnered with Bethesda Game Studios to create a card set based on the various characters, places, weapons and settings from the entire Fallout video game series in their “Universes Beyond” line of Magic: The Gathering cards. From the original Fallout game dating back to 1997 to their newest entry Fallout 76, the majority of characters from the Wasteland are represented here.
Speaking of characters, four characters from the games have been chosen exclusively to be the Commander for each of Magic: The Gathering’s preconstructed Commander Deck sets. These four Commander Deck boxes include Dr. Madison Li (Fallout 3 & 4) for the SCIENCE! deck, Caesar (Fallout: New Vegas) for the Hail, Caesar! deck, The Mothman (Fallout 76) for the Mutant Menace deck and finally, the ever faithful Dogmeat (Fallout 1-4, Fallout Shelter) for the Scrappy Survivors deck.
All 4 Commander Deck boxes, along with Collector Booster Packs, are available now online and at local game/card shops that carry Magic: The Gathering.

Universes Beyond is a sub-brand of Magic: The Gathering that exists alongside the main card series.
The Universes Beyond card sets are not canon with the main Magic: The Gathering series storyline. Think of Universes Beyond as its own separate world using the card game’s mechanics.
Two new gameplay mechanics that will be introduced exclusively in this set are Rad Counters and Junk Tokens. Other returning mechanics from Magic’s past include Energy Counters, Proliferate, Quest Counters and Squad.
So are there any cards that you’re excited to see getting represented from the world of Fallout? What kind of Fallout cards do you want to add to your Commander Decks? Does patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter? Sound off in the comments! Because War. War Never Changes…
