The newest trailer for the Fallout TV Series on Amazon Prime just dropped on YouTube and social media, revealing the official launch date and showing more of what’s to come for a young Vault Dweller and her adventures throughout a devastated Los Angeles.

Starring Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Emerson, the show takes place in an alternate timeline where advances in nuclear power research after WWII became the main energy source for the world, a 1950’s inspired retro-futuristic society would become the standard in architecture & culture, advancements in robotics would lead to the creation of various robot models for everyday life and an eventual Resource War between the United States and China would lead to total atomic annihilation of the world in 2077. The Fallout TV series takes place some 200 years after that event, known as The Great War, with a young Vault Dweller descendant named Lucy (played by Ella Purnell) emerging from her home of Vault 33 for parts unknown. For those who are familiar with the Fallout video game series, the Fallout TV Series takes place in the year 2296, nine years after the events of the Fallout 4 video game.

There was plenty to see in the trailer as we were graced with the first live-action appearance of Shady Sands (the original settlement of the New California Republic) and Los Angeles (aka The Boneyard), more interior shots of Vault 33, an abandoned hospital with a Mr. Handy robot roaming the halls, various shots of a Brotherhood of Steel army base, a make-shift outpost where a cowboy Ghoul (played by Walton Goggins) watches over the town and various locations throughout the Los Angeles region are showcased.

While some story details are still shrouded in mystery, some clues in the trailer are shining a light on what is to come. Such as Lucy talking about the importance of the Vault Dwellers helping to rebuild civilization, Walter Goggin’s Ghoul character seeing a cowboy on TV and imitating his gun style while remembering his past and Lucy with a Brotherhood squire named Maximus discussing how everyone wants to save the world but can’t agree on how to do it. And for Fallout fans who were concerned, the New California Republic (NCR) was finally shown, fighting the Brotherhood of Steel in a quick but spectacular battle. Never a dull moment in the New California Wasteland.

The blast creator and ruins of Shady Sands and Los Angeles (The Boneyard) truly gives a sense of the incredible, destructive power that the the atomic bomb can produce.

I personally am loving the callbacks to the Fallout 3 promotional video but this time with Walton Goggins telling people to reserve their spot in a Vault-Tec facility, the dark humor with Lucy being told by a Mr. Handy robot that he’s going to harvest her organs, a Brotherhood of Steel squire punching a wild Yao Guai bear, little Easter Eggs such as a Radiation King television set playing a TV show, the “Please Stand By” sign going off in Vault 33’s farming area, the ever-loyal Dogmeat ready to help and of course the song “I Don’t Want To Set The World on Fire” by The Ink Spots being featured, the same song that introduced the world to the arrival of the Fallout 3 video game back in 2007.

I’m also looking forward to one big question that will finally be answered after all these years: How did the design of Vault Boy come into existence in the world of Fallout? We’re gonna get that answer on April 11th.

I am truly impressed with the size, scope and cinematography of the Fallout TV show trailer. It looks and feels like the world of Fallout. Johnathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and the filmmaking team have really outdone themselves. And a tip of my hat to Todd Howard and the Bethesda Game Studios team for their dedication in bringing the world of Fallout to life with Amazon MGM Studios. It could very well be the best video game adaption of 2024 if they can bring the story and characters together with the same wit, charm, depth and heart that the video games have done.

My other sincere hope is that Ron Perlman will return as The Narrator, who’s voice has been a staple in the Fallout series since the very first game, who’s chilling line of “War. War Never Changes…” still echoes in the minds and hearts of all Fallout fans.

The original Fallout opening set to the tune of The Ink Spots “Maybe.” Still one of the greatest and most chilling openings of any video game.

I’ve been a big fan of the Fallout video games myself ever since I first played Fallout 3 Game of The Year Edition on my PlayStation 3. I have so many wonderful memories of that game, along with Fallout New Vegas Game of The Year Edition. And I’ve played Fallout 4 so much, along with Fallout 76 on various platforms. I love these games, their characters, their world building, their setting, that beautiful 1950’s retro-future aesthetic & Americana and that dark humor that parallels our own world in such brilliant, creative and poignant ways. It’s a story of hope in a world ravaged by nuclear war. A chance for the character that you create to explore the setting, meet colorful characters and help to make the Wasteland a better place for all…or worse if you go the darker route. It’s 1950’s American retro-future sci-fi RPG storytelling at its finest.

War may never change, but these four are ready to take on whatever the Wasteland can throw at them.

So are you excited to see a brand new Fallout adventure back on the West Coast set in New California? What Fallout Easter Eggs are you excited to see?
