“Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” Gameplay Revealed at Xbox Developer Direct 2024 Event

For those who were very disappointed after watching Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny and wishing for a true Indiana Jones experience that recaptures the thrill and excitement of the original films, I have some very excellent news to report.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has just been announced at the Xbox Developer Direct 2024 Event via a full trailer. A brand new first-person, action-adventure game from video game developer MachineGames, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and executive produced by Todd Howard that was teased back in 2021, is shaping up to be something truly special.

The game takes our legendary hero Indiana Jones on a globetrotting adventure across the world. From the historic halls of the Vatican to the ancient temples of Sukhothai, Egypt and beyond to uncover a mysterious artifact of incredible power known as “The Great Circle.” Taking place in 1937, in-between the events of Raiders of The Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indy must face against dark forces and sinister foes in a race against time to find “The Great Circle” first before they do.

Troy Baker will be providing the voice of Indiana Jones versus Harrison Ford. However, Harrison Ford’s likeness is being used in the game itself.

According to Game Director Jerk Gustafsson in a press release from Bethesda’s official website “There are a lot of Indiana Jones fans at MachineGames. Most of us grew up with Indy and fell in love with the movies and the character when we were young. We’ve just got these ties to the character that go back decades. But even if you didn’t grow up with Indiana Jones, you know Indiana Jones. He’s a relatable type of hero and a true adventurer. That’s a legacy we want to share and be part of, and we want to build something interesting and genuine.”

I have to say after watching the trailer myself that this is exactly what I was hoping for and then some. From Indy’s charismatic wit to the high-octane action of fighting off Nazi soldiers, sneaking around dig sites, exploring stone temples and leaping between planes. Heck, even the classic Wilhelm scream is included, so you know that the developers have their heart in the right place.

The last major video game entry in the Indiana Jones series was Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings in 2009.

Currently Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released later in 2024 on Windows PC, Steam and Xbox Series S|X. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
